Celebrate Your Wedding Anniversaries With Wedding Jewellery
Wedding Anniversaries besides Birthdays are one of the most important celebrations in your life. The day you married the person you love so much can be celebrated however you want as it’s your day together after all. Most people, however, do follow certain traditions such as the traditional giving of wedding anniversary gifts.
In the U.K, traditionally the eighteenth anniversary year was the year that a precious metal or stone was given. The 18th year’s gift is the gemstone, which can be given in whatever format you choose. A few options are adding precious gemstones to your wedding rings, giving each other a piece of jewellery with a favourite gemstone, or just exchanging a beautiful gemstone ornament. With gemstones, there are so many options, including Rose Quartz, turquoise, jade, hematite and moonstone. Your choice depends on what you like, whether it’s the intenseness of the green jade or the semi-opaque nature of the rose quartz. Another idea is to exchange birthstones, which is a popular type of jewellery these days, as it demonstrates a deep, profound and personal attachment to one another.
The next important anniversary is the 25th, where a gift of silver is given. A silver piece of jewellery, such as a silver ring or necklace can be given, or a practical item such as a silver tray. It could be a silver family heirloom given to the lucky couple on their 25th anniversary.
On the 30th anniversary, a pearl is the traditional gift of choice. Clear white pearls act as a symbol of innocence, rarity and the beauty of nature – a perfect representation of an already long lasting marriage. Give as a single jewel, as earrings or a necklace.
For the 40th anniversary, Ruby is traditionally given. The intense and vivid red of this gem is said to represent passion, love and sexual desire. It is also meant to rekindle this desire and love, an appropriate gift in your later years when you almost feel as if the passion has run dry, even though it probably hasn’t. Five years later sapphire can be given. Sapphire, a gift to the heavens, represents truth and innocence – a perfect gift for a relationship built upon faithfulness and truthfulness. Emerald and blue sapphire are also bestowed upon the 55th and 65th anniversaries. One form of gift, you may choose, in order to incorporate all the precious stones together, is a ring or charm bracelet where gemstones can be added, enabling the wearer to wear the wedding anniversary jewels all at once.
In later years, anniversaries include gold (50th) and platinum (70th). You could for these either exchange a second pair of rings made of gold or platinum, either together or in a second wedding ceremony. Another option is to have your original plain wedding ring renovated or cleaned up; taking it back to its original condition on the day you first exchanged your wedding rings.
